Job Introduction

A typical day working as a Trainee Workshop Fitter will mean you actively participating in the repair and maintenance of vehicles that are brought into the Workshop and ensuring they are working the standard required for use in the operational team.

Main Responsibilities

Activities may include:

  • Undertaking basic maintenance and inspections ​of HGVs/LGVs/Low Loaders/Sweepers etc. ​

  • Helping to keep the working environment maintained and safe, maintaining our high site standards​.

  • Role modelling an exemplary approach to Health and Safety, working collaboratively to build a culture of continuous improvement​​.

  • Taking pride in all work completed and being determined to succeed​!

Working in Operations will involve working both inside and outside. It won’t always be glamorous! However, your safety and health is our number one priority and full protective clothing and equipment is provided.  Your colleagues are there to help and look out for each other, and safety is everyone’s responsibility.​

​While learning in your day-to-day role, you will be supported with attending college to complete your Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance technician qualification, level 3, which will provide you with a good grounding to start an exciting career in our industry. Qualifications required:

  • GCSEs (or equivalent), A-C or numbered equivalent (9-4) including English and Maths.
