We are currently looking for a Shift Supervisor to join our friendly Packing team based at our Tunstead Cement Plant, Buxton. Here at Tarmac, we are working hard to create a dynamic and inclusive environment and it’s important that our people come from a variety of different backgrounds.

Main Responsibilities

Reporting to the Packing Plant Manager, the Shift Supervisor will be accountable for the safe, smooth management and performance of their team, ensuring that manning requirements are met and maintaining the required level of competence.   Duties also include; carrying out RA, SSOW & issuing permits, reporting near hits & actions, engaging with employees on all safety matters, Leading safety meetings & stand-downs, delivering TBTs & safety briefs,  Contractor management, leading the Packing Plant meeting structure, attending cross-functional meetings, first-line maintenance, monitoring plant performance & diagnose performance issues using TDM, prioritising workload for self & the full packing plant team, planning & scheduling plant running times to align with the maintenance team, setting daily plant priorities.

Outside of normal working hours, the Shift Supervisor is the senior person at the Packing Plant and will be accountable for the safe operation of the Packing Plant.  They will also ensure a robust hand-over at the end of each shift to the next Shift Supervisor.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate previous experience in a manufacturing and distribution process, as well as possess proven management skills.
Your hands-on approach, effective and robust decision-making skills will be fully utilised in this role.

You will have a commitment to maintaining and improving health, safety and environmental standards and you should already hold or work towards obtaining a minimum IOSH managing safety certificate.
