Working as an Apprentice Supervisor in our Contracting teams, you will get exposure to a broad range of supervisory roles and responsibilities. A typical day as an Apprentice Supervisor – Contracting will be very varied but typically you could be involved in: 

Main Responsibilities

Activities may include: 

  • Overseeing all planning and milling operations for removing old road surfaces. Preparing the road surface for laying with sweeping and spraying operations, as well as ensuring safety of all supply chain work: Lining, signs, etc.​ 

  • Oversee health and safety on site / lorry movements / permits, risk assessments etc. Building an understanding of how to lead health and safety investigations. ​ 

  • Linking between the different functions, bringing teams together ​. 

  • Overseeing laying of materials and material orders. Can include; measuring of roads and planning of job, learning how to deal with site hazards, learning how to carry out inductions, briefing and authorisations​. 

This is a great opportunity to have hands on experience and get involved in the laying of materials process from start to finish. Rest assured we don’t expect you to hit the ground running from day one – you will initially start out by shadowing a supervisor or site manager​. 

Working on site will involve working outside. It won’t always be glamorous but be assured your safety and health is our number one priority and full protective clothing and equipment is provided.  Your colleagues are there to help and look out for each other, and safety is everyone’s responsibility.​​​​​ 

While learning in your day-today role you will complete our level 4 Construction Site Supervisor qualification, giving you good grounding to start a career in our industry. The Ideal Candidate

Qualifications: 

  • 5 GCSE’s including Maths and English (C or above) or equivalent (reformed GCSEs grade 4 or above). PLUS, A Level DD or; BTEC National Diploma PPP or; Access to HE Diploma with 21 Merits or; Level 3 Apprenticeship in related subject or; Equivalent level 3 qualifications worth 64 UCAS points.

 

Driving Licence - We'll be able to provide you a vehicle for this role, so you're able to visit others sites whilst on programme. This will mean you'll need to have a full driving licence, by 31st August 2023.
