We are recruiting for a Process Engineer to join the fantastic team at our Tarmac team in Barry, South Wales

Main Responsibilities

The successful candidate for the Process Engineer will be responsible for focusing on plant performance to enable the plant to achieve its health, safety, environment, quality and performance objectives.

You will also be responsible for:

  • Maintaining high safety standards and effectively coach and challenge others to work safely
  • Monitoring key process parameters, identify actions and define instructions to deal with deviations from targets.
  • Conducting day to day and longer term measurements and investigations to improve performance and optimise plant operations.
  • Implementing systems, tools and procedures to optimise the production process.
  • Supporting, and where appropriate lead, multidisciplinary teams, projects, Plant Improvement Plans (PIP) and other initiatives to meet business targets.
  • Building and maintaining positive relations with other teams to achieve the Plant’s goals.

Plant operations are 365 days, 24/7 and the role requires flexibility to ensure effective running of the plant. This may involve night working, weekend and Bank holidays and being on call if necessary.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for the role of Process Engineer will have experience within a similar role as well as experience of:

  • Chemical Engineering degree or equivalent qualifications/experience
  • IChemE associated - working towards or willing to attain chartered engineering status
  • Experience in Safety and Environmental laws and regulations with high safety standards and a wide knowledge of Health and Safety management techniques
  • Proven experience in process engineering (preferably the cement industry) or other relevant industry
  • General knowledge in physics, chemistry, thermodynamics and IT.
  • Good knowledge of process control methods and statistical methods for troubleshooting.
