Job Introduction

Join us as an Apprentice Operative – Quarry Materials and take the first steps towards an exciting career in the building materials industry. 

Working as part of a team you will actively participate in the manufacturing process of our aggregate products. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a part in the entire production process within our quarry operations in Inverness.

In this role, you will not only develop technical skills and industry knowledge but also play a crucial part in maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards. 

You’ll complete our Professional Operative Development Programme (PODP), providing you with a strong foundation in site operations.

Main Responsibilities

As part of your role, you will: 

  • Develop skills in operating mobile plant equipment and fixed plant systems. 

  • Participate actively in safety briefings and risk assessments, suggesting ways to reduce safety risks. 

  • Display a proactive attitude towards health and safety, reporting near misses and unsafe behaviours. 

  • Liaise effectively with customers and the general public to maintain a high level of safety on site. 

  • Work outdoors in varied conditions, ensuring safety remains your top priority. Full protective clothing and equipment will always be provided. 

  • Operating production equipment such as cranes, forklifts

Educational Requirements 

  • Preferably Scottish Nationals A-C (9-4) in English and Maths. 

  • Grades D will also be considered, with additional support available from the college.
