We are currently looking for a Laboratory Manager to join our friendly team based at our site in Wolverhampton.

Main Responsibilities

As a Laboratory Manager, you will establish the new Technical Centre at Hilton Main as a fully functioning and productive service to the business. You will manage and develop the technical team, work on facility management and manage the technical centre laboratory; providing a high level of customer service. 

On a day to day basis, the duties and responsibilities of the Laboratory Manager, will include (not exhaustive) 

  • Working closely with the Regional and Area Technical Managers and their teams to ensure a positive interaction for mutual benefit, optimising identification, development and utilisation of technical innovation
  • Providing multi-discipline technical training to the business
  • Identifying future testing requirements; planning/resourcing/actioning accordingly
  • Planning the strategic development of laboratory systems and infrastructure
  •  Effectively managing the laboratory to agreed budgets
  • Maintaining and developing the laboratory IT systems
  • Managing relationships with key suppliers and sub-contractors

The ideal candidate

Ideally the Laboratory Manager will be:

  • Able to lead, develop and inspire both direct reports and colleagues in your wider organisation to cultivate high performing teams
  • Show a good understanding of both industry and Tarmac current product availability and keen to focus on future needs / opportunities
  • Be able to show a strong knowledge of current asphalt product testing methods
  • Have strong planning, organising and time management skills
